Who we are
Angeles de Amor is a foundation which supports the integral development of 25 girls aged between 4 and 18 from Medellin, Colombia. They were living in vulnerable and high-risk environments of drugs and prostitution and suffering physical and psychological abuses. Some of them are abandoned girls. They have been placed in our foster home in the countryside, one hour from the city, to start a new life.
Angeles de Amor was founded in 2006 by Margarita María Ángel Montoya. The girls go to a school nearby and currently 10 additional girls are supported by the foundation to pursue their university studies.
In total, the foundation has impacted the lives of 180 girls.
Our approach
The girls live together as a large family would do.
Our approach is based on working on good values and focusing on developing responsibilities. When they arrive, the girls have to first learn to live with a schedule, to develop personal hygiene habits, to eat with good manners three times a day, to not steal, to speak properly, to respect the others, to go to school, to participate in the extracurricular activities, and to help with the cooking of their meals and the cleaning of the house.
They learn to give love and to receive love. They go to church. They celebrate birthdays. They have medical check-ups. They have a personal session with the psychologist every week in addition to a group session. We give them the tools to build their future.
We provide a completely new start and new life for them in an environment built on trust, love and mutual respect.
What makes us unique
-Small dedicated and loving team. The girls take turns helping with all the tasks related to the home (cooking, cleaning, etc.)
-Personalized care and support for each girl to choose a career path or a job path aligned with her potential and interests
-Personal and educational support both until and during their university studies
-Specific training in values ensuring the girls grow into women with strong principles and ethics (Implementation of Marva Collins program)
-Spiritual training to ensure the girls never feel alone and always have a sense of belonging and support
-Development of each girl´s abilities based on her interests and potential (IT, English, Sport, Sewing, Music, Dancing or baking)
-Building awareness about starting small businesses and the importance of saving
-Since 2024, implementation of an individual neuropsychological program for all the girls
-Personal and educational support to the girls' families whenever possible
-Peer support group for the girls who have left the foundation
